Many companies may not realize that the Companies Act 2016 requires them to display their registered name and company registration number, including any new numbers.
For example: ABC Sdn. Bhd. (Company No.: 200101088888 (1000001-A)).
Here’s What You Need to Know Under Section 30:
Displaying at Physical Locations:
Your company needs to show its registered name and number at:
- Your registered office
- Every place where you conduct business
- Any location where your books are kept
Sharing in Business Documents and Online:
You should also include your registered name and number in:
- Business letters, notices, and other official publications (even in digital formats)
- Your website and social media accounts
- Bills of exchange, promissory notes, endorsements, and order forms
- Cheques signed on behalf of the company
- Orders, invoices, payment requests, receipts, and letters of credit
- All other business correspondence, including payment vouchers
If your company name changes, make sure to display the old name below the new one for at least 12 months from the date of the change.
For example: XZY Sdn Bhd. (Formerly known as ABC Sdn. Bhd.) (Company No.: 200101088888 (1000001-A)).
