The number of new local companies registered increased by 6.3% in 2010 compared to a year ago in 2009. The rise is in tandem with the upturn in the nation’s economy and is also attributed to the introduction of the SSM stimulus packages which provided a discount on fees for the incorporation of new companies. Such moves have encouraged the setting up of many small and medium enterprises, particularly those with an authorised capital of less than RM1 million.
