The Finance Ministry announced today that the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be postponed. This is to enable the government to engage the public for more feedback and ensure the enforcement of the GST is well-received.
Not withstanding the postponement, it said the government recognised the important of the GST in ensuring a strong and sustainable fiscal position to support the long-term economic growth.
However, no timeframe is given in the statement by the Ministry as to when the GST will be introduced.
