SOCSO: RM720 Million paid for those involved in accidents

A total of RM720 million has been paid by the Social Security Organisations (Socso) to its contributors involved in commuting accidents from January last year until June this year.

Human Resource minister Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam said from January to June this year, 30,575 accident cases were reported to Socso with commuting mishaps making up one-third of the total, at 12,893 cases, mostly involving motorcyclists and which also led to fatalities.  Read more

SOCSO paid RM1.8 billion compensation and benefits in 2011

SOCSO paid nearly RM1.8 billion in compensation and benefits to its members and contributors in 2011.

“The total is increasing each year, from RM1.3 billion in 2009 to RM1.6 billion in 2010. Payments cover cost of medication and treatment which involves diseases and accidents,” said Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Maznah Mazlan.

The total number of health problem cases recorded under SOCSO is increasing each year.

Now you can withdraw all your EPF at age 55 while you are still working with someone else if you choose to retire at later years, say at age 60!

However, you may voluntarily choose not to withdraw your retirement fund at KWSP if you don’t need that.

FAQ: 13% employer EPF contribution from 1 Jan 2012

Members of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) earning a monthly wage of not exceeding RM5,000 will be receiving a boost in their retirement savings when the revised employers’ statutory contribution rate of 13 percent takes effect from January 2012 wages.

The one per cent increase from the current 12 per cent will benefit 5.3 million working Malaysians, comprising 92 per cent of EPF’s active members. Meanwhile, the employees’ contribution rate remains at 11 percent. Read more

Tax Budget 2012: Higher EPF Contribution from Employers

Budget 2012 has proposed that all employers are required to increase their EPF contribution from 12% to 13% for staff who are earning less than RM5,000 per month with effect from 1 January 2012.

The staff who are receiving more than RM5,000 will be exempted from the above new policy.
